This guide introduces the Groupage CMR document functionality in Qargo. The feature allows for the generation of different CMR documents for each delivery stop involving multiple deliveries and depot unloads within a single trip, simplifying paperwork for complex groupage operations.
📖 Key Terminology
CMR: Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road. This is a standard consignment note used throughout Europe for road transport.
Groupage: A method of transporting shipments from multiple customers in a single vehicle to maximise space and efficiency.
Template: A predefined format for documents, ensuring consistency when generating paperwork like CMRs.
Task: An automated or manual workflow action set in Qargo, often used for document generation or operational processes.
🛠️ Configuration
To activate and set up the Groupage CMR functionality, follow these steps:
1. Enable the Groupage CMR Document Type
Navigate to the Configuration module and click on the Documents tab.
Enable the 'Pre-filled CMR Groupage' document.
2. Create a Template for Groupage CMR
Go to the Templates tab within the Configuration module.
Click on Add Template and select Pre-filled CMR Groupage. Choose whether the template is based on a trip or a resource allocation.
Configure the template content as needed, then click 'Save'.

📚 Since the Groupage CMR consolidates multiple orders, the goods list may overflow the standard text box size in the document. To ensure full legal documentation, the Qargo template automatically duplicates the CMR document and continues the list of goods on the copy.
3. Integrate Document Generation Using Tasks
Open the Tasks tab in the Configuration module and select Trips.
Create a new task for generating the Groupage CMR document.
In Task General Info, choose Generate Document as the task type.
In the Generate Document section, select Pre-filled CMR Groupage as the document type and choose the appropriate template.
After completing the necessary configurations, the generation of the Groupage CMR documents can be done by accessing either the relevant order or trip page in Qargo in the trip documents and tasks section.
From this point, simply trigger the generation of the Groupage CMR; the system will then automatically handle the process, creating all the necessary, separate CMR documents for each unique delivery group in the trip.
📚 For the purpose of Groupage CMR generation, the system assumes a single origin for all goods being transported. This means the goods for all consolidated orders within the trip are considered to have been loaded at the same initial location.
This process eliminates the need to manually generate or separate paperwork for complex multi-drop trips, increasing efficiency and reducing the likelihood of errors.
