Q. Does Qargo have an option for refrigerated transportation, that allows users to enter a temperature setpoint? Can we integrate with providers of temperature tracking services?

A. Yes! Temperature settings can be added to orders, cargo and trips for monitoring and reporting. Qargo offers integrations with some of the leading temperature tracking providers.

Overview

  • Add custom fields for Temperature setpoints at order level and on cargo details

  • Trip Fields available for zone-specific setpoint values

    • compatible with dual-zone trailers or complex loads

  • Temperature data monitored live during transit, where integrations are active.

    • Can be automatically logged & stored for compliance reporting, audits and customer service

    • Time-stamped temperature records, fridge downloads and compliance paperwork can be uploaded and matched to jobs

  • Configure alerts when temperatures fall outside of the permitted range

    • System flags discrepancy with colour-code (amber / red) warnings

  • View live temp status on various screens (where integrations are active):

    • Planning board

    • Trip detail

    • Block view

  • Qargo can generate compliance & temp reports in real-time or retrospectively

    • Historical data available for audits

    • Doc types added for these reports, supporting KPI measurements like "temperature reports uploaded within 1hr of delivery"

    • Event triggers, (like sending a temperature breach) can be sent via email or webhook (where integrations are active).

  • For customers, temperature reporting can be made available through the portal.

Terminology

  • Requested temperature = what the customer asks for

  • Requested setpoint = what you tell the driver to configure as set point (they can deactivate this if they don’t want it)

  • Actual set point = what the driver has configured

  • Actual temperature = temperature in the vehicle.

Configuring Temperature

  • Temperature setpoints can be configured at both order and trip level

    • Special fields available for single & multi-zone use cases

  • Temperatures typically entered directly on order or in the load (cargo) details

  • Configured setpoint is used to direct temperature settings driver applies to refrigeration units

Adding the temperature field

Temperature is not a standard field on the ORDER, it will need to be added as a Custom Field.

  • Navigate to CONFIGURATION > Additional fields

  • From Orders, click 'Add Custom Field'

  • Complete the details for the new field, including:

    • What type of field is this? (text / # )

    • Is this field always visible and required?

    • Is this available for customers in the portal

    • What transport service levels is it available on?

    • If set as a Tag add the tag ID and corresponding colour(s)

  • Trips with multiple temp zones, can use additional fields at the trip level

    • REQ SP ZONE 1 / REQ SP ZONE 2

  • Navigate to CONFIGURATION > Additional fields.

    • Side menu, Orders panel, click Trips

    • Set the 2 fields to Active

  • Cargo temperature setpoints are available as default fields

  • Navigate to CONFIGURATION > Additional fields.

    • Side menu, Orders panel, click Cargo

    • Set the fields relating to temperature to Active

      • Maximum temperature

      • Minimum temperature

      • Delivery temperature (actual)

      • Collect temperature (actual)

      • Requested temperature

  • From the Order, click 'Customise' and toggle on the temperature options to show details:

  • Temperature setting from the Order will be displayed in the format configured.

    • In the 2 examples below we see the Example1 with Tags (Label shows Frozen), and Example2 with a numerical temperature (temp shows 98).

  • On the planning board, use the 'CUSTOMISE' buttons (Both) to display temperature information. Toggle on the data elements that require visibility.

Using Temperature in an order

Once activated, the option to set Temperature on the order will show under the Reference Numbers.

  • The type set will determine what options are available.

    • In this example, it was created as a tag. The tag labels added will show as the option to select on the order.

  • When the temperature field is included on the Cargo panel, options to enter temperature setpoints will be available:

  • If using a custom field for temperature with the format as tag, the saved order will show the selected temperature tag next to the order number.

  • If using a tag, the column header filtering includes the option to filter based on the Temperature field:

Using Temperature in a Trip

Qargo does not automatically push temperatures from order to trip.

  • Due to the complexity of groupage loads, fridge temperature must be set at a point that works for all goods on a trip

  • Enter required setpoints on the trip manually, even if set on each order.

  • Custom fields on orders (e.g., “Requested Setpoint Zone 1/2”) capture the temperature at order level.

    • Fields do not automatically populate the trip’s required setpoint fields—they are for visibility and must be manually referenced when planning.

    • Rename fields or add custom temperature fields that support your workflow, making it easier to visually match order requirements when configuring trips.

  • Instead of opening each trip individually planners can edit setpoint fields for multiple TRIPS in bulk from Trips Overview to speed up manual entry.

Integration Partners

  • Integration with selected transport temperature control systems for trucks, trailers (ie: Thermo King) offers:

    • real-time tracking

    • multi-zonal monitoring

    • alerts when temps deviate from setpoints

For users working with an integration partner, follow these steps:

  • Enable the integration using the account credentials provided by your telematics vendor.

  • In resource settings, link each truck or trailer with its corresponding telematics ID and enable the toggle for integration.

  • Once active, you can configure setpoints and see live reporting for each resource in Qargo.

  • For integration with systems like Thermo King, trip fields "Req SP Zone 1" and "Req SP Zone 2" can be auto-filled from hardware data

    • Does not copy to, or pull from Order; fields are usually for reference and not used by Qargo’s integrations.

For ferry/intermodal workflows:

  • Temperature setpoint required by ferry plugins or other integrations is usually auto-calculated based on order goods temperature data.

    • Must still be manually entered or matched to the trip field.

    • Consistent custom fields on both order and trip levels can help streamline double-checking but does not eliminate manual entry.

Summary

  • Use order or trip screen to set temperatures; configure custom fields for clarity.

  • For multi-zone/dual temp loads, enter values for each relevant zone.

  • Use the Trips Overview screen to set temperatures in bulk after referring to order values.

  • For FTL the requested temperature should be the same as the requested set point.

  • Groupage requested temperature can be different due to range of temps on orders grouped on trip.

  • When integrated, actual temperature values from hardware integrations may auto-populate these fields for real-time monitoring and alerting.
