Introduction.

When doing business with Pallet Networks, setting up rate cards for the variety of pricing models can be quite a task. In this article, we will look at one of the most frequently used pricing models across the different networks. In this example there are 2 parameters to consider. Rates will be based on the Delivery Location Post Code and the total number of pallet spaces, based on the order - See the parameters below. This will be configured in a Price Table, with a fixed rate that will generate as the Transport Charge.

Parameters:

  1. Based on Delivery locations only, determined by postcodes. These can be specific postcodes or postcode ranges.

  2. Consider the goods ordered, based on the total number of pallet spaces occupied.

Configuring the Rate Card.

Navigate to Rate & Rate Card Customers.

Click 'Create price list' this will open a new screen.

Select the Transportation Service the new price list is associated with. Give the Price List a name, use something that will help to easily identify it. Set a Valid from date. If no date is set, the default will be the date the list was created.

There is an option to set the price list as a default for all customers if required. Otherwise, the price list should be linked to specific customers.

To add the price table, click the Edit Icon (pencil) on the Transport Charge line. This will open the 'Edit Price' screen. This example will have just 1 calculation, but it is possible to set multiple calculations with conditions.

Select Price Table from the calculation method, and select Fixed Amount. This will enable the 'Edit Price Table' button.

Click 'Edit price table' to open the Rates screen where you can add the specific data that your price list will be based on. In this example, Column 1 sets up the Postcodes and the stop the postcode references; while Column 2 sets up the Total Pallet Spaces as a range.

Use the filter type 'Between' to create the range.

NOTE: The END value is always one less than the actual value entered. This is why the START value is the same as the END value.

TIP: For greater flexibility use only the post code Prefix (ie: AB), this will include ALL the post codes in that range. To be specific use the complete post code (ie: AB1 2X3)

Adding a column will reset the data table, be sure to enter all the column metrics first before adding any data to the table. Any data added to the table will be cleared if another column / metric is added.

Once the metrics are setup, select the 'Rates' tab to enter the rates that apply to each of the parameters set in the Metric Table.

Click OK on the Rates screen and then be sure to SAVE the price list. This price list will now rate orders for customers assigned to the list, or all if applicable. The transport charge will be based on the last delivery location postcode and the total number of pallet spaces.
