Q. When should I use the "Full Truckload" toggle in planning optimisation instead of just configuring my vehicle and consignment dimensions/weights?

A. You should use the "Full Truckload" toggle when your primary operational requirement is to guarantee a dedicated vehicle for a single consignment (order), regardless of whether the truck has remaining capacity after the consignment is loaded.

While configuring correct dimensions and weights is the standard best practice for optimising vehicle utilisation, using the FTL toggle addresses specific situations where standard volumetric/weight-based planning is not ideal:

  • Operational Simplicity: For simple FTL moves where you want a guaranteed 1:1 assignment (Consignment:Truck) without the complexity of ensuring precise dimension and weight data are configured across all orders and vehicles.

  • Preventing Accidental Consolidation: This toggle acts as a hard override for the planning algorithm. It eliminates the risk of the system ever combining a consignment with another smaller order, even if they physically fit together, which can happen if dimension configuration is slightly imperfect or incomplete.
