Introduction

You can reach out to us via the chat bubble or via [email protected] to request this integrations. We will then reach out to Portbase.

The DP World integration enables the scheduling of appointments (handlings) and truck visits (bookings) for the DP World Antwerp gateway and the Empty Container service. The DPWorld terminal is used for importing and exporting containers and storing empty containers.

Terminology

appointment

is to create a pre-announcement and results in the PA Number. Is similar to a handling.

truck-visit-appointment

is to create a truck visit appointment and results in the TAS Number, i.e make a visit or container booking suing .

AGW

Antwerp Gateway is the terminal where (full) containers are stored. Most bookings will utilise this terminal

EDS

Empty Depot Service is the terminal where empty containers are stored. Booking a visit to this terminal is only for picking up or dropping of empty containers that should not be shipped.

Features & Limitations

The DPWorld integration utilises an SFTP connection to send messages to DPWorld to create appointments or truck visits. When sending a message to DPWorld, one typically has to wait a couple minutes to get a response back. This is a limitation mainly on DPWorlds site and cannot be made much faster. While waiting on a response, the associated task will keep on spinning.

Managing pre-notifications/handlings

To send status requests to Portbase, one has to fill in all the correct information in the order, which can be overwritten in the booking data. In case there is mandatory information missing, the task will notify the user to fill in the required information. Once all the required data is filled in, one can press the first handling task to send an appointment to DPWorld.

Receiving container statuses

This integration does not support container status information.

Managing bookings

There are two tasks involved when making a booking within Qargo. The Create container booking task (second task), is used for the internal representation of the visit in Qargo. Here the user can create a new booking or link the appointment to an existing booking or visit.

Operational/day to day use

Order detail

When you create a new order and you select a terminal then you will see the terminal container icon appear:

After you save the order, you will also see a booking object:

You will see that it is in the status to register, which means the pre announcement hasn't been done yet.

To make a container booking you first need to announce the action you want to perform at the container terminal. This pre-announcement includes reference numbers, details about the transport and the desired action.

Prepare Pre announcement

The required fields for all announcements are:

  • Container number

  • Container ISO code

Depending on the location (AGW or EDS) and the activity pickup/dropoff additional fields will be required.

Antwerp Gateway Services

Antwerp Gateway is the terminal where (full) containers are stored. Most bookings will utilise this terminal

Pickup at Antwerp Gateway Services

When a full contained is picked up at the AGW, the following section will be shown in the order detail. To make the announcement a PIN code will also be required next to the container number and ISO code.

Drop off with booking at Antwerp Gateway Services (Drop off export)

When a drop off takes place at the AGS and a delivery/booking reference is filled for the container (reference is prefilled from the stop), we will send a message to announce the drop off of the container when the “Sync container with external system” task is executed.

Drop off without booking at Antwerp Gateway Services (Drop off import)

When the “Sync container with external system” task is executed with no delivery reference, we will announce a drop off without booking.

Empty Depot Services

Empty Depot Service is the terminal where empty containers are stored. Booking a visit to this terminal is only for picking up or dropping of empty containers that should not be shipped.

Pickup empty at Empty Depot Service

Empty container pickups take place at the Empty Depot Service. No additional information is required next to the container number and ISO type.

Drop off empty at Empty Depot Service

Similarly, empty containers can also be dropped off. No additional information is required next to the container number and ISO type.

Execute pre-announcement

Once you complete the "Sync container status with external system" task, then you will create a pre announcement and you will see that the status goes from to Register to registered.

The pre announcement includes reference numbers, details about the transport and the desired action which will then be sent to DP World and appear on the portal.

With the booking task you can then combine multiple pre-announcements to create an appointment/visit. This task actually sends over the requested timeslot such that you can get a timeslot and TAS-code back.

So the handling tasks are to provide details about the container transport to the operator, while the booking tasks are really about scheduling the visit

Planning

In your to plan section, you need to click on customise:

And then activate the Container status column:

This will allow you to see the container status in your to plan screen.

We also have a special container terminal booking screen on your to plan:

When you click this button, you will see an overview of all your container terminal statuses:

Supported terminals & operators

DPWorld operates two terminals in the port of Antwerp, Antwerp Gateway (AGW) and Empty Depot Service (EDS). AGW should be used for import and export scenarios while EDS is only meant to exchange empty containers. The AGW operator should have SMDG code 1700 while the EDS operator utilises SMDG code 1710.

Location configuration

You need to link your terminal locations to the correct Portbase terminals. You can do this by going to the location detail via Locations tab.

Then you need to open the location and select the correct terminal:

The full list of DP world terminals is:

  • DP World Antwerp - Antwerp Gateway Services: use this one for Kaai 1700

  • DP world Antwerp - Empty Depot Services: use this one for the emtpies

Don't forget to press save once you selected the correct location.

Configuration: Tasks

You need to go to the task configuration:

You should see an additional section with "Container terminals" where you should see the following tasks:

If those tasks are not there, then click on add tasks and then "Start from template" and you should see the below:

Then press save.

You should see the following tasks:

  1. Sync container status with external system: this will request the status to DP World and display it in Qargo. Ideally this task is configured as Automatically complete.

  2. Create container booking: this will collect the necessary information and create the container booking but it will not yet send it to DP World.

  3. Send booking to terminal: this will send the booking to DP World.
